The servo control system of a CNC machining center is an automatic control system that can track input command signals to perform actions, thereby obtaining accurate position, speed, and power output. If the CNC device is the "brain" of the CNC system, the "command center" for issuing commands, then the feed servo system is the "limbs" of the CNC system, a type of "executing mechanism". It accurately executes the motion commands sent by the CNC device, precisely controlling the direction of motion, feed rate, and displacement of the executing components.
The servo system plays a very important role in CNC machine tools, and the accuracy or stability of the machine tool is closely related to its performance. It receives feed command signals from the CNC device, drives the actuator after transformation, adjustment, and amplification, and converts them into linear or rotational motion. Then, through the mechanical transmission mechanism, the worktable (or skateboard) is accurately positioned or undergoes strict relative motion according to the specified trajectory, and finally the parts that meet the requirements of the drawing are processed. The main functions of the machining center servo system include:
1. Accurately control the position and speed of the moving parts of the machine tool
The servo system is the executing mechanism of the machining center, which controls the moving parts of the machine tool (such as worktable, slider, etc.) to move accurately according to the preset path and speed based on the command signals issued by the CNC device, ensuring the accuracy of the machining process.
2. Realize complex machining tasks
The servo system can achieve fast start stop, reverse motion, and multi axis linkage, which is crucial for executing complex machining tasks such as milling, drilling, threading, etc., improving the machining capacity and flexibility of the machining center.
3. Improve processing efficiency and surface quality
By precisely controlling the movement of the machine tool, the servo system helps to improve machining speed while maintaining high-quality machining surfaces, reducing subsequent polishing and grinding work, and thus improving overall production efficiency.
4. Enhance the dynamic response performance of machining centers
Servo systems usually have good fast response performance and can accurately respond to changes in CNC system instructions in a short period of time, which is particularly important for applications that require frequent changes in machining parameters.
5. Support automation and intelligent production
Servo system is one of the key technologies for realizing the automation of machining centers. It can be integrated with other automation equipment, support intelligent manufacturing and unmanned production, and improve the automation level and intelligent management of production.
6. Improve the stability and reliability of the system
Modern servo systems are usually equipped with advanced control algorithms and fault diagnosis functions, which can ensure the stability and reliability of machining centers during long-term operation, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
The performance of the machining center servo system directly affects the machining accuracy, efficiency, and equipment reliability, and is an indispensable core component in modern CNC machining technology. With the development of technology, servo systems are moving towards higher precision, faster response speed, and stronger intelligence.
